The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Review (Steam)

The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Review, A forgotten Daedric Prince has returned, bringing chaos to West Weald! Explore a new zone and defend the city of Skingrad, now beset by a dangerous Daedric cult and the jungles of Valenwood. Customize your skills like never before with the new Scribing system.

The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Review Pros:

  • Decent graphics.
  • 134.21GB Download size.
  • New in-game achievements.
  • Full controller support.
  • You can activate the DLC from the menu.
  • Pre-purchase packs give you – a Strid River Fisher folk costume, an eyebright raven pet, three gold road treasure maps, a diamond Anniversary crown crate, and two crown experience scrolls.
  • The deluxe edition gives you – the Skingrad Vedette outfit style, stomp the grapes emote, make cheese emote, Ulfsilds time of legends memento, Skingrad guard Mastiff pet, and West Weald Tharriker mount.
  • RPG gameplay.
  • Can use your old character or create a new one.
  • Massive Multiplayer Online experience but you can do so much of it solo.
  • Play how you want and do the missions and quests in any order.
  • You have the main story and optional side quests.
  • Playing the story first helps unlock huge chunks of the map.
  • All new areas in West Weald that are as colorful and vibrant as the catacombs and dungeons are dark and horrible.
  • The story is fantastic and after a slow start it really builds and it had me wanting to just keep plowing forward.
  • ESO’s Gold Road Chapter will also introduce Styling as part of the Scribing mechanic. Styling allows you to change the looks of a Skills visual FX and take it all to the next level.
  • New Trial Lucent Citadel which is a 12-player dungeon and plays pretty much like a raid.
  • Customizable Skills: Scribing introduces Grimoires, which are new types of skills for existing skill lines. You can customize these Grimoires beyond their basic functions, creating unique abilities tailored to your playstyle. For example, the Grimoire “Soul Touch” lets you pull soul magic from within and cast it at enemies or allies. You can tweak its effects by choosing Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Scripts.
  • With over 4,000 skill combinations, Scribing allows players to mix primary, secondary, and tertiary scripts.
  • To master and get all the bits needed for scribing the game has its own set of questlines for it.

The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Review Cons:

  • I still struggle to find and use the quest journal efficiently and if I’m not paying attention I can lose the thread of a story I am doing.
  • Still, a pain to start the game when using just the controller as some menus still require a mouse or using the Steam mouse control on the controller.
  • Took a while to get used to all the mechanics and systems.
  • It can feel overwhelming at first trying to take all the things in.
  • Had it a lot where as the DLC is new other players are around and sometimes I was just following behind them without having to kill anything and it took a bit of the adventuring out of it.
  • A few times I wouldn’t get the prompt for interactions.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
