Review: Blue Rider (Nintendo Switch)

A dynamic arcade-like game where it’s you against anything that moves. The Nintendo Switch version contains new and exclusive features. Power up your weapons, shoot down enemies and face huge & challenging boss encounters.

Pros:

  • Bright cheerful cartoon graphics.
  • 773MB download size.
  • Shoot em up gameplay.
  • Online Leaderboards.
  • Simple controls.
  • The camera can be controlled with the right stick.
  • Find hidden Helix caches for bonus score.
  • You get two attacks, Guns and missiles.
  • Pick up/earn new gun attacks like spread firing.
  • Good arcade fun.
  • Adjustable difficulty settings
  • Full score breakdown when you finish a level.
  • Big boss fights.
  • Can find and have a buddy with you that aids you.
  • Nine stages.
  • Big areas to navigate with open areas and windy little corridors throughout.
  • Very much a pick p and play.
  • Roguelike in that you get one life to finish a level otherwise game over and the score doesn’t count.
  • Your top score shows on the main screen.
  • Level select for when you finish levels.
  • Supports Joycon, Pro controller and Handheld.

Cons:

  • No score breakdown if you die.
  • Camera movement is quite dis orientating.
  • No tutorial.
  • Little replayability.
  • Levels start to feel the same.
