Review: Croixleur Sigma (Nintendo Switch)

High-speed hack-and-slash action! Tonight, in the Queen’s realm of Ilance, two prodigies representing the Knight and Aristocrat factions will do battle in ‘the Adjuvant Trial’. This ritual, which has been held since the founding of the nation, decides which faction will hold military and political authority.

Pros:

  • Anime graphics.
  • 2.6gb download size.
  • Own in-game achievements.
  • Optional tutorial.
  • Autosave on/off.
  • 3 control types: default, original and custom.
  • Network on/off.
  • Two difficulties-easy and normal.
  • Controls and specials assist on/off.
  • Invert axis.
  • Five modes- Story/score attack/survival/extra/training.
  • Extra mode-epilogue.
  • Survival mode-one life, last as long as you can.
  • Score attack-3 minutes, score high.
  • Hack and slash arena gameplay.
  • Achievements pop up as you play.
  • Four characters to play as.
  • A huge stable of moves/spells/actions.
  • Select player, costume and weapons.
  • Simple yet deep combat.
  • Story mode-15 minutes to beat the tower. After each fight, you pick a route.
  • Communication mode-interact, dress up the characters.
  • Japanese voice.
  • Online and local leaderboards.
  • Full stats screen.
  • Button masher dream.
  • Very easy to get into and play.
  • Very bright and colorful.

Cons:

  • No touchscreen.
  • Repetitive.
  • Constant difficulty spikes.
  • Slow to unlock items.
  • Only 1 character at first.
  • The tutorial is just a video.
  • The camera is hard to manage.
  • Just a button masher.
  • Little variation.
  • Doesn’t explain everything very well.
