Anomaly Agent Review (PlayStation 5)

Anomaly Agent Review, ANOMALY AGENT is a cyberpunk action adventure featuring fluid combat, a time-bending story, quirky characters, and a catchy synthwave soundtrack! Punch or shoot through mobs of enemies, impact the story with your choices, and stop the anomalies before the world plunges into chaos!

  • Three difficulties – Easy, normal, and hard.
  • Game settings – enemy attack warnings, vibration, screen shake, and screen flashes.
  • You can remap the controls.
  • 2D beat ’em gameplay.
  • Earn coins and use them to buy upgrades and abilities.
  • Full of humor.
  • Multiple choice encounters.
  • Interact with people and how you answer will determine if you make a negative or positive interaction which is points used later.
  • The story is instant and engaging.
  • Levels are split up into Anomalies.
  • A fascinating world to explore.
  • Familiar hack-and-slash style combat, over time you unlock combos and new abilities but very much punch and dodge.
  • So much fun to play.
  • Earn new Anomaly powers.
  • Over time you can increase coin values and increase your health.
  • The platforming and variety of levels are really good.
  • Great soundtrack.
  • Rogue Agent mode is a more self-contained roguelike run mode.
  • Very generous checkpoints with it being particularly good in boss fights.

Anomaly Agent Review Cons:

  • Getting used to the combat when having many Anomaly powers can be fiddly.
  • Some levels really outstay their welcome mostly with the length.
  • Progress feels like it is all planned out and you have very little say on how it plays out.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
