Summary

Arcade Space Shooter is a collection of games and you know what? They are pretty good! OK so they are basic and don’t offer a lot in the way of innovation or flashy gimmicks but it does offer solid repayable gameplay. Space Smash is an arena wave-based shooter that is heavily inspired by Geometry wars, instead of shapes you fight some generic-looking ships but it is really good fun. Space Smash is a twin-stick shooter with online leaderboards and power-ups that drop from enemies. It can be hard to make out what’s safe to collect and what’s an enemy but it is a great little game. Space War Infinity is a more traditional Shmup, you take out enemies and earn EXP that converts into points to put in a skills tree. All of the skills are permanent. What I like about Space War Infinity is how playa le it is, it adds many repayable layers to it, and again it’s not adding a lot to the genre but it plays really well and does get kinda addictive. Overall this is a great package for shooter fans and suits the handheld nature of the Switch perfectly. It may not be a game cha ger but it’s worth playing any day of the week.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
