Blon Review (Android)

For our Blon Review, we take on this cute pixel-art 2D platformer game. Unlock spells, heroes, and weapons, fight monsters and bosses and explore an unknown world in hopes of rescuing your family.

Blon Review Pros:

  • Pixel art graphics.
  • 72.64MB download size.
  • Full touchscreen controls.
  • Endless runner-style gameplay.
  • Brief tutorial signs.
  • Controls – the left half of the screen does jumping and the right-hand side shoots.
  • Level layouts randomize.
  • Huge skill tree.
  • Leaves are what you need to collect.
  • Upgrade and acquire new skills from the tree by spending leaves on them, as you upgrade one skill so far another one will unlock.
  • Tree blossom – every 4hrs you get a randomized amount of free leaves.
  • A handful of different characters to unlock each with unique stats.
  • Every area has 3 boss battles.
  • You can aim your shots.
  • Very accessible.
  • Power-ups spawn in the game and it’s things like shields or tornadoes that gather all leaves on the screen.
  • Damage numbers pop on the screen.
  • Nice looking locations.
  • Levels have multiple routes.
  • The more you play the stronger you get.

Blon Review Cons:

  • Doesn’t randomize the levels enough.
  • Very very repetitive and grindy.
  • No Google Play achievements.
  • Very slow to get going.
  • Boss fights especially the final ones are tedious in nature.
  • Unlocking new characters takes a long time.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
