Crazy Athletics Summer Sports And Games Review Cons:

  • An anger-inducing noise every time you fail.
  • Long time to set the race back up.
  • The control scheme is really bad and not very accessible for players.
  • It’s not that fun at all due to the controls, layout, etc.
  • No online modes.
  • Doesn’t offer a practice mode right off the back.
  • Events just tell you the controls (which are always the same) and not how the event works or what triggers a pass or fail.
  • Single-player starts as a running event and you can do nothing until you pass it.
  • Feels like a mobile game with its menus and icons.
  • You fail more than you succeed and you get no feedback on why it’s failed.
  • The failed notification takes long enough to pop that you believe you did the event.

Summary

Not a lot can really be said about this here game, from the get-go it’s not very accessible. You have to do this running event whilst juggling a very confusing Rythm action style control scheme and you cannot see anything about the game until you finish this race. The control scheme is my biggest grievance with the game as it’s the same deal for every event which is fine but when you are doing events like the high jump or long jump you have to be precise in where you jump because hitting the line is a fail. The game doesn’t mention anything about this and I can hit everything spot on but not jump? Doesn’t say it a button press doesn’t say it’s automatic it just kinda fails I mean happens. Taking away from the controls it has multiplayer for local play but no online, the menus look like a mobile game and the animations are very basic. I don’t like to be harsh on games as making games is hard but man oh man could I not get on with one. It starts rough, it plays badly and it’s a new Summer game in Winter… It’s a no from me.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
