Cyber Mission Review (PlayStation 5)

Cyber Mission Review, Cyber Mission is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up with retro aesthetics, dynamic combat, HD visuals, and intense combat inspired by classic elements from both run ’n gun and shooter genres. Take on your adversaries solo or team up with a friend in a local co-op! Float and maneuver through zero gravity stages, blast enemy swarms, take down screen-filling bosses, and use companion cyber drones to increase your forward fire rate, cover your back, and more!

Cyber Mission Review Pros:

  • Decent graphics.
  • 231.3MB download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • You get the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game.
  • Weapon mode setting – weapon mode set to easy or classic.
  • Two-player local support that’s drop in and out.
  • In-game cutscenes and character interactions.
  • Tutorial pop-ups as you play.
  • 3 save slots.
  • Side scroller Shmup gameplay.
  • End of stage boss battles.
  • You have satellites that follow and shoot for you, you have some control over their position.
  • Pick up new gun types in the level from pods.
  • You have an energy bar for health.

Cyber Mission Review Cons:

  • You cannot remap the controls.
  • The opening sequence is you controlling a ship too big for the screen, the controls are horrible and it’s a clunky horrible introduction to the game.
  • A claustrophobic screen full of oversized enemies.
  • The shooting doesn’t feel good.
  • They try to have many mechanics going at once and it never gels together.
  • Hit boxes of enemies is gross, I can’t shoot their wings but the same wing can damage me.
  • You only get one life.
  • The music is not great.
  • No online play or leaderboards despite a scoring system.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
