- Steam achievements.
- Full controller support.
- Graphics settings – resolution and graphics quality preset.
- Four save slots.
- Cool cartoon animated cutscenes.
- Can skip the cutscenes and interactions.
- 2D platformer gameplay.
- Collect resources to spend on repairing and rebuilding structures in town.
- Choose your starting skill from a boomerang to exploding ghosts or a tornado attack. You will eventually open new ones.
- Wide range of actions – main attack, jump, double jump, ability, dash, uppercut, and ground slam.
- Animated back and foreground.
- The levels and locations randomize every life.
- Roguelike in that you have one life then it’s a new run.
- Loads fast.
- Familiar with quick-to-learn controls.
- Hack and slash combat.
- Elite enemies are tougher and are marked on the screen.
- Feels and looks like a cartoon.
- At the end of a run, you get to keep X amount of items (X number because you can increase the amount).
- Ships and blacksmiths open up so you can get new gear and upgrade your health and damage.
- The levels are not that big so you can jump in and have a good short run.
- Many Breakable objects in levels.
- An impressive amount of enemies on the screen at once.
- Big boss fights.
- When you get so far in a run you may encounter a guy selling random potions and the chance to pick one of two upgrades/abilities (for the run).
Death or Treat Review Cons:
- Cannot rebind controls.
- Basic graphics settings.
- Changing the graphic quality doesn’t seem to actually do anything.
- The game stutters and isn’t as smooth as you would like.
- Hardly any voice work.
- A lot of grinding is needed for building and crafting.
- Very slow starter.
- One-hit kills are not fun but common.
- The foreground does obscure your view a fair bit.
