Take on the role of a tiny super-solider decked out in lime green spandex! Blast and melee your way through hordes of alien soldiers, robots, spaceships, traps, bosses – and more! Fight on foot or commandeer an enemy ship to take out Zerkl’s defenses and ensure that the alien menace won’t threaten Earth ever again.

Summary

Destructivator SE is a fantastic shooter game, the goal is simple, kill all enemies and escape. Yes, it looks busy and everything is tiny as you can see so much of the level at once but play it, the playing of the game is satisfying and fun. Drive ships and shoot enemies, find shortcuts and shoot from ladders. Big boss battles along with smaller mini-boss encounters in parts of the level, it’s a game that surprised and delighted me in equal measure. The controls are tight and with the cool pixel art graphics, it definitely plays like a modern game but looks like a retro game. Having it on the Switch meant the level length was about right for a commute, the colors really pop on the OLED switch, and generally is a brilliant little game.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
