Football Heroes League Preview Pros

  • Decent graphics.
  • 2.91GB download size.
  • Steam achievements.
  • Full controller support.
  • Epic Games link account option.
  • Graphics settings – window mode, resolution, v-sync, and graphics quality preset, including custom.
  • Colourblind support.
  • Controller settings – Invert axis and sensitivity sliders, and the game has button icons for PlayStation 4, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers.
  • 3D headphones support.
  • Arcade Football gameplay.
  • Opening and replayable tutorials.
  • Mouse and keyboard support, and you can invert the axis and sensitivity slider on the mouse.
  • Three game modes – 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 (temporarily disabled at the time of the preview).
  • Training mode has 6 modes – shooting, dribbling, juggling, 2v2, 3v3 against AI, and the tutorial.
  • The game is going for a Rocket League-like approach from the arena to the atmosphere and presentation.
  • Online leaderboards for – overall rank, blocks, games won, goals scored, assists, and steals.
  • Five characters (paid DLC) to choose from, and each has unique abilities and customisation options.
  • Daily and weekly quests for EXP rewards.
  • You have an overall player level that you rank up.
  • Quick and easy invite system for the game, and uses the same layout that Apex Legends and Fortnite use.
  • There is a Where’s the ball button that, upon pressing, highlights the ball.
  • Abilities allow over-the-top shots with a super-powered up ability special move that has an aiming reticule and everything.
  • The game is more arcade than anything else.
  • I like that shooting isn’t just pressing or holding a button to set power, it’s a power-up one, but it can go up and down, meaning you can do loads and then fluff it.
  • AI matches in practice do give EXP, hardly any, but they give some.
  • The game is a better experience with friends, but even then, it’s tough.
  • Great character models and animations.
  • Watching someone who can master the controls and do all the air juggling and that does look pretty cool.
  • One thing it has that games should use is that he ball at kickoff has a jet that puts it into play, now as the countdown goes down, the jet moves, meaning the ball could drop in many different areas.
  • There is something here, but the controls need some serious work to make it more approachable and give us reasons to want to come back.

Football Heroes League Preview Cons

  • The game is slow to boot up, even on an SSD.
  • Hero coins are the premium real money currency you can buy for Customisable options and emotes.
  • The prices of items for real money are way too high. Outfits are like 7 pounds each, and they are not all that great for the money.
  • The real money is all in dollars until it hits the Steam store part of the transactions.
  • Aiming your shot is not fast and fluid; it’s way too sensitive even after adjusting the setting, and it just doesn’t feel right.
  • The camera cannot keep up with the action at all.
  • There is no real hook to keep playing and level up; it’s just skins, and that’s it.
  • Matchmaking times can vary, but it’s always been on the slower side.
  • You cannot remap the controls.
  • Learning to play takes a lot of getting used to, as to be good, you have to learn about trapping the ball, then holding down a control button so the ball stays with you, and then you can shoot, and that’s a whole other ball game with that.
  • No way to call for a pass or anything with AI or just by giving shout-outs.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
