Hades Review (Xbox Series S)

In our Hades Review, we defy the god of the dead as we hack and slash out of the Underworld in this rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.

Hades Review Pros:

  • Gorgeous graphics.
  • 8.1GB download size.
  • 1000 Gamerscore.
  • Four save slots.
  • Hell mode – optional but is a harder version of the game.
  • Action roguelike gameplay.
  • Amazing voicework.
  • God mode – makes the game easier. (optional)
  • Can rebind controls and set aim assist.
  • Codex – fills in with info on characters, enemies, locations, and weapons as you discover them.
  • Fast fluid combat.
  • Instant loading and respawning.
  • When finishing a room you choose an exit based on the icon on the door. (each icon means something from health to shops to bosses)
  • Hub is where you chat with the other characters and can customize the world and even your bedroom.
  • So many materials to collect to get new weapons, new decor for the bub/bedroom and you can expand the hub world.
  • When you clear a room you get either materials, coins, or a choice of 3 buffs from a random God.
  • You constantly want to keep trying again and again.
  • Every run feels like progress.
  • Addictive.
  • Massive boss fights.
  • God mode doesn’t feel like cheating and is actually intended to help you which it does.

Hades Review Cons:

  • You don’t like good games.
  • Somehow you hate Greek mythology.
  • You don’t like games maybe?
  • Accidentally bought a console and game.
  • You work for the competition.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
