Housemarque releases Nex Machina – Name of the Game Featurette

For almost 3 years now, a documentary crew has followed the Housemarque team and Eugene Jarvis—legendary creator of Robotron 2048 and Smash TV—on this journey.

This is a candid look into what went on behind the scenes for the game’s announcement at PSX 2016 in Los Angeles. It shows the pressures of showing off a game to an audience for the first time and the drama of grappling with builds fresh out of the box. But not without Eugene Jarvis and Harry Krueger taking some time to discuss game design philosophy in the process.

This featurette is part of a full length documentary—Name Of The Game—delving into the entire development process of Nex Machina. For now, though, we just wanted to share a taster of things to come as a thank you. We’re just some folks with the dream of making a game like the ones we used to play as kids.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
