Kokoro Clover Season 1 Review (Nintendo Switch OLED)



For our Kokoro Clover Season 1 Review, we play this 2D platform series based on the theme of “a Japanese Sunday morning anime”. Transformations, cards, dancing, and robots! Enjoy the exciting and wonder-filled world.

Kokoro Clover Season 1 Review Pros:

  • Cutesy pixel art graphics.
  • 509MB download size.
  • Japanese and English options.
  • Platformer gameplay.
  • Three game modes – Story, Adventure, and Boss Rush.
  • Library showcasing characters, monsters, Galleries, and cards.
  • Border art can be customized.
  • Music player for all unlocked tracks.
  • Mini-games allow you to replay the games at your leisure.
  • Adventure mode has 12 stages, a Gacha mini-game, and 8 EX stages.
  • Story mode has 12 episodes, a tutorial, and the Gacha mini-game.
  • Actions – you can jump, call forth a summon, dance (become Invincible on the spot), shoot magic, and transform into a different character.
  • Hidden Collectibles to unlock new entries in the library.
  • Coins are found in the stages and from enemies and you use these in the shop.
  • You can set up a group of actions and bind them to the trigger buttons.
  • Power up your cards (abilities) to do a mega damage attack.
  • In-game cutscenes.
  • Big boss battles.
  • Cool animations and transitions.
  • Play the adventure mode to unlock new items in the store.
  • Competent platformer.
  • Before a stage, you can set up a load out for your card, assist and dance.
  • Difficult game.

Kokoro Clover Season 1 Review Cons:

  • Long initial load time.
  • No touchscreen support.
  • Controls take some getting used to.
  • Menus are d-pad only.
  • Not the best loading times overall.
  • Even in English, the in-game text is Japanese with English subtitles. (more an FYI)
  • Difficult game and boss battles are particularly hard with long restart times.
  • Cluttered Ui.
  • Doesn’t support the stick only the d-pad.
  • The tutorial is only for button knowledge and not the whole setup and how to play other game modes.
  • The performance is generally not that great with a lot of stuttering.
