- In-game cutscenes and character interactions.
- A full 3D game world, and you have 360-degree camera control.
- No matter the setting, the game looks incredible.
- First-person shooter gameplay.
- Tutorial pop-ups as you play.
- Opening the prologue section with progress pop-ups.
- Four game difficulties – Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. You can choose it for every mission.
- Co op lets you invite friends or add random players when setting up a mission.
- The Armoury lets you choose presets and do the loadout for weapons, exoskeleton, and devices.
- Guns feel really good, meaty yet easy to wield. Aiming and shooting are snappy.
- When in your base, you have this drop-down computer to set up your mission, loadouts, and invites. It looks really good and always sets up the level and story.
- Memorable characters.
- End of mission breakdown.
- Find and collect cash from containers within the levels.
- Take photos, and these act like collectibles.
- Great character profile pop-up sequences when you meet a new character.
- Puzzle and platform elements, along with big boss or end-of-level scenarios.
- The world does look good when I can see it.
- I found the game not to be fun to play, but I can see so much potential.
La Quimera Review Cons
- The mouse cursor stays on screen even when using the controller.
- No graphics benchmark test.
- You cannot remap the controls for the controller.
- Minimal accessibility options with no Colourblind support.
- You cannot skip the opening cutscenes.
- The performance of the game is up and down, more so when a load of enemies appear and fire and rain are lashing down.
- When you die, you have a long respawn time, usually involving a screen telling you it’s reverting to the last checkpoint and then a loading screen.
- The gunplay is not as snappy as it should be, even with maximum aim assist, the gunplay is sluggish and doesn’t feel great.
- Any type of ammo or health packs is really hard to see, especially in the thick of battle.
- I found the game to be badly optimised, I couldn’t get a solid frame rate, putting graphics on low or medium would make things not load correctly, a lot of slowdown, and pop-ups. I don’t have a crap or amazing laptop but I really struggled to get it going smoothly.
- You cannot pause the game even in single-player.
