Summary

Lords Of The Fallen has fantastic graphics with many settings to customize, such as resolution, HDR, Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, etc. However, the game also suffers from long loading times, slowdowns, and pop-ups. The game supports full controller support Steam achievements and trading cards.
The game is an action RPG that follows the Souls formula and gameplay loop. You can choose from nine character classes, each with unique weapons and armor. You can also use the Umbral lamp to enter the Umbral Realm, where you can see hidden enemies, obstacles, and events. However, staying in the Umbral Realm also causes your health to wither and increases the dread level, which spawns stronger enemies. You can use the Umbral lamp to Soulflay enemies and objects, which exposes them to high damage or reveals secrets. You can also plant Vestige seedlings to create revival points in the Umbral Realm. The game has a stamina-based system for combat and movement, and you can stagger and backstab enemies for huge damage. You can also find collectibles, loot, shortcuts, and stigmas (traumatic events) by exploring the world.
Lords Of The Fallen is challenging and requires skill and strategy to survive. Being a Souls player can make it harder as not everything works how you think it would. The game has a lot to take in and the Umbral lamp takes a while to get used to. You also drop any collected Vigor when you die and have to retrieve them in your next life.
Overall I found Lords Of The Fallen to be a real advancement in the genre and has many cool ideas that don’t always hit but always wow and entertain. It is a shame it has many little bugs and performance issues but that aside you cannot deny it has that something that keeps you coming back hour after hour and death after death.
