Mayhem Mail Review Pros:

  • Decent pixel art graphics.
  • 118.9MB download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • You get the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game.
  • Game settings – Four themes (random/color/letter/number), show score, and timer.
  • 3 save slots.
  • Excellent Chiptune soundtrack.
  • Assist mode options – invincibility, infinite jump, and infinite deliver.
  • Fast-paced platformer gameplay.
  • Tutorial signs and pop-ups as you play.
  • Very simple controls.
  • The goal of the game is you collect mail and deliver it to the post boxes, The twist is that the mail has names, colors, etc, and you have to match the mail with the mailbox.
  • Can replay levels.
  • World map level select.
  • Each game you play, including restarting the game, will randomise the theme (color or name, etc, of each mail) if you have it turned on.
  • Enemies will spawn and move around, and obstacles will appear as you progress.
  • Levels will have it where you can go out one side and appear on the other side.
  • I like how the game starts to throw in mailboxes that are not needed, so you have to think a bit more.
  • The levels start to feel like a puzzle in which you figure out the optimum route to clear deliveries, as you can carry a couple of envelopes at a time.
  • You can get away with making a few mistakes before failing a level.
  • Near instant loading times.

Mayhem Mail Review Cons:

  • No way to remap the controls.
  • Doesn’t have any leaderboards support.
  • Only one character model.
  • When you have multiple envelopes, I never felt confident that I had the right envelope for the right mailbox, as I’m not sure if I have to do it in order of the mail I picked up. Or is it just there?

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
