Metal Suits Review Pros:

- Graphics settings – v-sync.
- Controller settings – you can remap the controls.
- 3 save slots.
- Four game difficulties – Easy, Normal, Hard, and hell.
- 2D run and gun gameplay.
- The first level is a tutorial.
- In-game cutscenes and interactions.
- Tight responsive controls.
- You can wall jump/climb, melee, ranged attacks, and special moves.
- Find and equip the suit parts to unlock new weapons and abilities.
- The whole game moves at a good pace, for me, it’s like a Mega Man in its speed and accessibility.
- Animated backdrops.
- End-of-stage breakdown of score, kills, collectibles, and any bonuses.
- Constant save points.
- Many Breakable elements within the stages, blocks are the main ones, and they can hide secrets or open up alternate routes.
- Space map level select. You can replay stages and see your progress within them.
- A bouncy, high-octane soundtrack.
- Combo counter that builds with kills and goes down when you don’t kill anyone.
- Pick up health bar extensions.
- When you pick up a new suit type, you get a cool splash screen of the suit and all the stats for it, like battery, power, attack speed, etc.
- Highly playable and very fun to play,y and is a great example of a run-and-gun type game.
- Each stage will have a set number of levels within it.
- Suits will have a battery bar and will go down as you use it, and once it’s run out, it’s gone.
- The camera can be panned a bit up and down.
- I found the game plays a lot like Mega Man and Broforce as it matches the solid gameplay shooting of Mega Man, but the bombastic explosions and level destruction of Broforce, but it’s more controlled.
- Instant respawning.
- Such a great game to get into, it’s all very cohesive and fun.
- Elements within the level mix it up like explosive barrels, pushing blocks onto enemies, and hitting drills that will then fire out and explode.
- The level design gets better over time and starts adding more depth and slight puzzles.
- Big boss fights at the end of a stage.
Metal Suits Review Cons:
- No actual graphics settings.
- Doesn’t offer any accessibility options.
- Not all cutscenes and interactions can be skipped.
- The game has no voice work.
- Early on, you have to just collect every suit pickup so you can learn what they are.
- You can only shoot left and right.
- At times, it felt like I had the wrong suit for the job, and it was forced on me.
- Dodging bullets can be tricky.
