Reviews: Modern Warfare 3

Next installment in the call of duty modern warfare franchise is here. Straight away i’m going to let you know i’m not the biggest fan of the series. I struggle to play well online and always found the campaign dull and uninspiring. But I approached this with a new sense of belief, And i’m glad I did..
  • Interesting fast paced, Eventful and high adrenaline campaign
  • Campaign plays out just like a huge high budget movie, A huge over the top interactive movie
  • Spec Ops lets you play a variety of missions to extend the campaign, Or face off against waves of enemies in a horde style scenario. Ranking up enables better weapons and abilities.
  • Online is fast and furious
  • A new community section is available online, Giving you new modes such as drop zone and infected. Infected is a zombie type affair where one guy starts as the infected and must hunt the other players down, Thus turning them into zombies. Drop zone is like your king of the hill but with bonus care packages for holding the area.
  • Multiplayer isn’t for everyone
  • Difficulty levels on campaign get very cheap and frustrating as you go higher
  • No huge steps forward in terms of the game engine. Meaning a lot of the animations look the same
  • Infinite spawning enemies until you hit a checkpoint. This is really annoying and leaves you basically running through a level to hit an invisible check point to stop the spawn
The game while not for everyone is good, If your on the fence maybe rent it just to do the story. Online as I say is a bit more accessible to all now. Community game modes such as Infected allow you to rank up and gain weapon xp, While being on a level playing field. All players have the same loadout no matter their rank.
The story as crazy as the plot line is, Is defiantly worth playing through. Huge explosions and action through out. Onj a normal play through you can expect the campaign to last about 5 hours.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
