  • Had the game revert back to using HDR (which I don’t have) and no way to turn it off in the menu.
  • Feels just like the old game.
  • Short out-of-bound timers.
  • Controls feel too light and floaty.
  • Ai is really good even on very easy.
  • Not aimed at introducing or helping new players.
  • No dirt tech! I mean the mud is just a texture and doesn’t react or even move.

I have left this series alone for a few iterations as I thought it needed time to establish itself, improve and adapt to make a compelling game. Well, several entries and a new console generation later, and little has changed. I found it to still be the uncomfortable bike riding game it was all those years ago. For me it just never even feels like a game, it’s not fun to play, the modes are stale with little innovation or desire to play them, I mean who wants to do challenges for some new gloves? Anyway, it’s just never moved forward from the last game and I had to check frequently that I hadn’t accidentally booted up the last game. OK, I struggle to play it as the controls are more accustomed to someone trying to Skateboard on ice rather than ride a bike over mud, it’s floaty, disruptive, and not good at all. Add in that the game would periodically put HDR on (I don’t have HDR) and it would warp the graphics and give me eye strain with the only fix being rebooting the game. The modes as said are uneventful and it all just felt flat and uninspiring. I would bet even die-hard fans of the sport would be disappointed in this year’s entry. It’s not worth your time and if you’ve bought one of these games before then you have already played this one!
