OlliOlli2 Original Soundtrack set to kickflip the charts

South London’s finest exporters of pixelated pop-shove its, Roll7, are stoked to announce today the official release of the OlliOlli2 Original Soundtrack on digital stores worldwide. Releasing through the newly minted Roll7 Records, the OlliOlli2 OST is now available on over 200 digital stores including iTunes and Amazon.

OlliOlli2 follows the BAFTA Award winning OlliOlli, which beat out the likes of FIFA 15 to clinch the title of Best Sports Game earlier this year. With over 1.75 million downloads of OlliOlli2 to date, development studio Roll7 has rapidly risen from indie underdog to major player within the games industry, and music remains at the core of everything they do.

Featuring artists from the likes of Ninja Tune and Project Mooncircle, the OlliOlli2 Original Soundtrack has been a labour of love for Roll7, handpicking every song to cultivate a ‘sound’ that worked perfectly with the flow of the game.

“With OlliOlli2 we wanted to focus on the music that we all share an interest in,” notes Simon Bennett, OlliOlli2’s producer “Independent Dance Music, glitchy, jazzy, chilled out… the sort of music that DJ Lefto in Belgium, Giles Peterson or Benji B, or more recently people like Soulection Radio in the States would play.”

Sailing along on a wave of lazy beats and fizzing synths, the music of OlliOlli2 breaks tradition in the same way that the game’s focus on a rhythmic, unending flow of tricks broke the gameplay mould for skateboarding games. The challenging title demanded a soundtrack that flows with its sprawling, multi-faceted levels, worming its way into players’ heads until everything becomes one rhythm, and OlliOlli2 delivers.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
