Summary
Pocky and Rocky is a game I can’t say I have heard of before but nevertheless, it’s a shooter game at its core but you can fully move around and collect power-ups, etc. It is a game that looks 16-bit in graphic style and has the atmosphere of a game like Goeman the mystical ninja. As I say it’s a shooter and one where power-ups will change how you shoot so it could turn projectiles into flames or give you a spread shot for example. It plays well but it is difficult and when the easy difficulty is locked behind collecting coins which in itself is a huge ask. The shooting is fine and you have a stick or sword that can deflect projectiles back but the game never felt particularly fun, it would add in little parts that cause undue stress, they made boss battles big which is good for the spectacle of it but bad for the moving around and shooting. It looks good but it plays like an old game and is hard to go back to and enjoy.
