Review: Fall of Light: Darkest Edition (PlayStation 4)

Fall of Light: Darkest Edition review

Fall of Light is a story-driven action RPG set within a world consumed by darkness. You are Nyx, an old warrior who has embarked on a dangerous journey with his daughter, Aether, an ‘indigo child’ who radiates luminescence. Only together will they be strong enough to complete their quest: reach the last place on Earth still touched by sunlight.  Here is our Fall of Light: Darkest Edition review:

Cons:

  • Difficult.
  • Little explanation of well, Everything.
  • Slow sluggish combat, Always feels like you have a split second delay to button presses.
  • Navigating the world especially for the first few hours is very daunting and misleading as you struggle to work out where to go.
  • Constant difficulty spikes.
  • Few hit detection issues.
  • Very dark in the game and hard to see.

Summary

Fall of Light Darkest Edition is a game that has potential to be awesome, But the difficulty fair outways the fun that can be had, It’s really difficult for no other reason than to try and be a Dark Souls is my guess. I mean they do so much right like world design, Story, and mechanics but sluggish combat and stupidly aggressive and powerful enemies make the game a frustrating experience. It is really annoying as I really do like the game but I cannot get very far, Not due to player skill but due to the game design. Why not have a difficulty option so those that like it difficult can crack on. Anyway, I will move away from that, Like I say the other parts are just fine, It could do with a better tutorial but as it is the game has a difficulty boundary that will put many gamers off which is a huge shame.
