Review: Sony CP-01 Headset

With a full range of every type of headset, Here we take a look at 4Gamers official headset for the PlayStation 3. With a low price point and a host of features, The CP-01 would come under the budget headset banner.

 Pros:

• Comfortable cushioned ear pads.
• Twin volume and mute control on the cable for game and voice chat control.
• Huge easy to use mute button with a big LED light to indicate if it is on or off.
• Easy to set up if you follow the included instructions, That thankfully comes with pictures.
• Good sound quality that simulates 3D surround sound in games.
• The ear cushions can swivel for extra comfort or its for those people that like to wear their headphones on a weird angle.
• Small mic that is attached to the left ear piece. With this design it allows clear voice comms and the mic itself is non intrusive and has 0 risk of getting tangled up or broken.
• 3 metre USB oxygen free copper cable.
• The volume control unit has a huge clip soo it can be clipped on even the smallest of clothing.(underwear not included in that statement)
• Compatible with both AV component and HDMI setups.
• Head band is adjustable and fit the biggest of heads.
• The headset on the whole feels sturdy and solid.
• A very light weight headset that can easily be worn for hours on end without issue.

Cons:

• The cable can be too small for most normal setups, Having the cable out too far will expose all the AV connectors and make it all look a little bit messy. Not to mention increase the chance of damage.
• The LED on the mute function is so bright that in certain positions will annoy and distract the gamer.
• The cables at the end of the 3 metres split into 3 and the cables for that are a lot thinner and weaker. A way to bound them together would be nice.
• The headphones can only be worn in the proper uniform way. So no wearing the headphones with the band at the back or front? Just straight up plain Jane on the top of the noggin here.
• If you find yourself in possession of bigger than your average ears, Then pro longed use may result in some discomfort.
• The head band has no cushion on it so if you have short hair or indeed no hair, It may cause irritation after a while.
• Can be used on PC but only has headphones, So the mic wont work or even be picked up the computer.
• The packaging has a incorrect content list. It says you get a handy little bag to store your headphones, This is not the case and you can get one if you email 4Gamers and send your receipt in.

In summary, For the budget price you can pick these headphones up for, They are both excellent quality and well made. Setting them up is generally painless. Games that have a headphone audio options really utilise and show off the headphones at their best.
