Ringlorn Saga Gaiden Review (Steam)

Ringlorn Saga Gaiden Review, Ringlorn Saga Gaiden is an adventure RPG inspired by the Japanese PC classics. A lost soul is called upon this accursed world to end the Dark Lord’s reign over humankind and rediscover its purpose and memory along the way.

Ringlorn Saga Gaiden Review Pros:

  • Decent pixel art graphics.
  • 112.58MB Download size.
  • Full controller support.
  • Graphics settings – screen, and CRT.
  • Supports playing with a keyboard.
  • It has an eery Chiptune soundtrack.
  • 2D game World with a side-on-camera angle.
  • The game plays out on a screen-by-screen basis.
  • You can shapeshift into your enemy and use their attacks, at any time you can jump back to your own body.
  • Combat is automatic and it’s just a case of you bumping into them, same for them attacking you.
  • You can swap your weapon stance on the fly (a button press) that changes your stats and attack type.
  • It’s a game that rewards patience, you need to learn which attacks work best on which enemy types.
  • You can move around freely, avoid enemies, and explore how you want.
  • Great map design, memorable locations, and characters.
  • Simple controls.
  • Over time you learn that you can get in and attack and then back off before taking damage… Sometimes.
  • You see the enemy health bars.
  • Attack power is determined by a power bar and the more you spam attack the weaker your attacks become, you need to harness the attack and move approach.

Ringlorn Saga Gaiden Review Cons:

  • No Steam achievements.
  • You don’t get any tutorials or manuals.
  • No actual game or graphics settings.
  • The game really does rely on you smashing your head against it over and over.
  • There is a first game that speeds up the learning so it’s kinda annoying you need the first game to make the second game learning better.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
