Silent Hope Review (Nintendo Switch OLED)
For our Silent Hope Review, we hear of when One day, a terrible calamity struck a peaceful kingdom. In the chaos that followed, the people began to deceive and backstab each other. Their King used his powerful magic to steal away people’s ability to speak and hurled himself into the Abyss. His daughter, the Princess, cried an endless flood of tears until they encased her in a giant crystal teardrop.

Silent Hope Review Cons:
- Not all interactions/cutscenes can be skipped.
- Slow starter.
- A lot to take initially.
- Very mashy combat, it’s not always easy to avoid damage.
- The early levels all look the same.
- Enemies hit hard and you don’t get a lot of health options so the start is quite rough.
- You don’t get any fanfare or notifications of completing/failing a Blackstone statue trial.
- EXP amd levels are tied to each individual character making it a real pain when you swap characters.
- When on camp the chatting gets old fast with many lines getting repeated over and over.
- Takes so long to get going.
- The completed trial pop is so small and quick that you can easily miss it.
- The general loop repeats its formula over and over.
- Aiming with ranged characters is not always great as it lacks any lock-on.
- Grabbing the same resources and materials over and over gets boring.
- It just feels uneventful after every floor, every fight.
- Never sure when it has been saved.
- Takes ages to get new classes.
- The new locations are fine but they just feel like redskins.

Summary
Silent Hope is an action RPG game with decent chibi graphics and strong voice acting. The game offers a choice of Japanese or English voices, and subtitles can be displayed for dialogues and callouts. It features anime cutscenes mixed with in-game interactions, and the screenshake can be turned on or off. The game world is bright and 3D, with seven characters each having a unique role such as caster, rogue, warrior, wanderer, archer, farmer, and fighter.
The game has a main hub area where you can craft items, select missions, and more. Each place in the hub has its own level which affects the speed of crafting/cooking, what’s available, and how much you can do in one go. The gameplay involves delving into the many floors of the Abyss. When crafting or farming all actions take time, you can spend runes or Sands of time to instantly finish them otherwise going back into the abyss progresses time.
The game also features a strong risk-reward mechanic as you have to assess if you can risk your run for the possible chance of exiting or getting the chance to level up. There are wave-based encounters in a small area and a mini-map that shows all materials and resources. The map fills in as you play. Signal fires can be used to fast-travel when entering the abyss again, and act like a hard spawn point.
All equipment has rarity levels and how equipment drops work is you get a drop and it’s a memory of it, you then craft it into life as it were. There are big boss encounters with story tombs and a bonus reward room afterward. The game is 1.8GB in size and allows for control rebinding. Overall it’s a game that has a lot of replay but whether it’s worth your time is debatable for it takes so long to get into the game and get classes and builds going that the monotony of it is a big ask. I don’t hate it, I just wanted it to be a bit more immediate and less repetitive.
