- Graphics – film grain filter, brightness, and chromatic aberration.
- 3 save slots.
- The prelude acts as a tutorial.
- Immersive horror gameplay.
- The game is meant to be played many times as it randomizes and changes every game.
- Permadeath is recommended but is optional.
- 3 font sizes-small, medium, and large.
- 3rd person perspective.
- Cutscenes are in-game change to a black and white cel-shaded graphics style.
- Strong voicework.
- You can skip cutscenes if you so wish.
- Dots show on screen to show what you can interact with.
- Icons say what type of interaction it will be.
- A light source is a powerful tool in the game and you can use the right stick to move it around.
- Four characters – Sophie Van Dened, Etienne Bertrand, Alexander Laskin, and Alina Ramos. Each has its own light source style, special item, and unique set of stats for speed, stealth, strength, and serenity.
- There are more characters to play as in each of the chapters with 13 being the grand total.
- The game takes place in multiple areas from a somewhat living mansion to mental hospitals and abandoned Abbeys.
- The game changes as you play based on interactions, actions, and any death.
- Puzzle elements.
- You can examine and rotate full 3D. Models of any collected items.
- Tense atmosphere.
- Doors can be opened, closed and you can listen to noises on the other side.
- Map to help with navigation and shows points of interest and your location.
- Can block doors or slam them shut on people? With a QTE.
- When a character dies they drop all their items and they are shown on the map.
- Lose all characters and you have to start the episode again.
- Uses vibration of the pad is a good effective way.
- Save and exit.
Song Of Horror Review Cons:
- You don’t get much help with navigating or knowing what to do.
- Modern tank controls take some getting used to.
- A lot of key findings to open doors.
- Slow pace.
- Seeing anything can be tricky.
