Review: StarHawk

Sequel to the brilliant online only shooter Warhawk. A PlayStation 3 exclusive that promises to deliver even more thrills and spills. The major difference between this and the last hawk, Is they have added a single player element to the series.

  • Single player can be used as a tutorial and bot match combined
  • Dropping in items and base units into a match is a great addition and changes the way you play the game
  • solid controls
  • Graphics have been improved in both character and level models
  • Once online play clicks it really is a beast of a game. Onslaught after onslaught, Vehicular combat happening all over the place, Bases dropping in to reinforce your base and of course team work
  • Loads of gameplay modes and unlocks
  • A app for your phone that allows you keep track of your stats and your friends
  • Has clan support

  • Single player feels really tacked on. Just real dull and uninspiring
  • Online gameplay can be a very lonely and daunting experience at first
  • Has an online pass
  • Loading times can get a bit long
  • UI can be messy and dosent help you if in your in a rush
  • Not a good OST at all
In summary I feel the game may not gel with you immediately, But giving it more time will reap rewards. The game has a lot of layers and you only get out of it what you put into it.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
