  • Host room is for either 4-player or 8-player rooms and you can choose whether you want a passcode on the room.
  • When playing with a controller or Joy-Con you can choose if you want to play any motion games.
  • A full 3D game world with camera control.

  • The party planner Trek is the story-based game mode, you still do the whole Mario Party thing along with mini-games.
  • Collect mini stars from events and every 30 gives a prize.
  • Earn and buy decorations so you can customize your Plaza.

  • Get a fishing rod to fish for coins and mini stars, you can do it in events as well as the game world.
  • You can skip any cutscene you have seen before.
  • The Mario Party mode is the traditional roll of the dice and moving around, doing mini-games, earning coins, and getting stars with the most stars wins.
  • Jamboree buddies are special as they can give you cool abilities (they are powerful too), to get one you have to meet them on the board and win them in a mini-game with other players.

  • Four initial Mario Party boards – Goomba Lagoon, Mega Wigglers Tree Party, Rainbow Galleria, and Roll em Raceway. Each has a difficulty rating of 1 to 5 stars.

  • Choose who you face in Mario Party when it’s CPU.
  • Handicap setting for each player IN Mario Party regardless if they are CPU or online.
  • Online lets you set if motion games appear, the board you play, and the game length.
  • Decorate your own plaza with decorations you win/find/buy in the game.
  • I really enjoy the story mode as it gives me the impression that I have friends and that I can still see so much of the game.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Review Cons:

  • The unskippable opening cutscene goes on for a while.
  • No real voice work, just characters’ grunts and squeaks.
  • With so many mini-games, it takes a bit of time to get used to them all.
  • There are no game difficulty options for the single-player.
  • Couldn’t see a way to invite friends into a Mario Party online when setting up a game online.
  • Online could do with a quick match option or something as you are locked into one board or setting each time.
  • I didn’t see a huge amount of content from older games which I know players are always asking for.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
