Super XYX Review, Super XYX is a vertical scrolling shoot’em up presented in eye-scorchingly fluid pixel art animation. Choose from 6 unique pilots and their signature ships, each with unique shots and bombs, and blast off to face The Black Serpent’s forces head-on! Master 6 stages with screen-filling bosses, customize the experience with various difficulty settings, and unlock alternate game modes as you progress!

  • 221.7MB download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • Game settings – music, sfx, music volume, extra FX, ship speed, show player hitbox, show music titles.
  • Advanced Game settings – screen rotation, lives, difficulty, credits, stage clear type, mercy power-ups, high score reset, enemy grays out in death, and stage clear type.
  • Can remap controls, and stuck deadzone.
  • Enter your name on the main menu so you don’t need to worry about it later.
  • Shmup gameplay.
  • Two game modes – Arcade, and practice.
  • Vertical scroller game World with 3D animated backdrops.
  • There are two characters and ships to choose from, and each has a different shot type.
  • Pick up power-ups in a game that can increase fire rate, fire type, etc.
  • Fast-paced gameplay.
  • Absolutely nails the retro feel of the Shmup games of yesteryear.
  • There are super bombs that clear the screen or do major damage to the boss.
  • Big boss encounters.
  • Fantastic soundtrack.
  • Local leaderboard.
  • Difficult game mostly due to so many explosions and flashes it can be hard to see enemy projectiles.
  • Very addictive as it just gets straight into the action with no downtime.
  • You can freely move around the screen.
  • Enemies can come in from any angle of the screen.
  • Lightning-fast loading times.
  • Combo counter.
  • Enemies drop gems that you collect for points.
  • You can swap ships when continuing.

Super XYX Review Cons:

  • No actual tutorial.
  • It’s very hard to see enemy particles.
  • Difficult game overall.
  • Never fully know what settings will affect gameplay or trophies.
  • It doesn’t offer a lot of unique features or mechanics.
  • No online leaderboards.
  • The replay value will vary.
