The game offers a range of graphics settings including resolution, display mode, graphics quality, shadow quality, anti-aliasing, environment details, post-processing, shading, textures, view distance, VFX quality, v-sync, frame limit, FSR 2.2/DLSS, settings, field of view slider, gamma, and motion blur. The gameplay is a first-person adventure with multiple-choice encounters and questions. The game features excellent voice work and an in-game journal that contains all your findings and maps. The map fills in as you explore. However, it’s worth noting that the game is a very slow starter and can feel more like an interactive movie/story than a game as it’s all heavily scripted.

Navigation can be challenging at times, with or without prompts, it’s really hard to make out where to go, and what you can and cannot climb over. Flashbacks help tell the story and a track is used to try and find lost cargo/items. The game world is beautifully barren-looking and you can use the Telemeter, which is like a telescope, to help identify landmarks.

The game is very much a walking simulator with incredibly powerful sequences like walking in a sandstorm. You get a probe that helps you as it follows you around and you can name it. The story is really good with excellent writing and if you don’t do anything then your character starts talking to themselves or they get on the radio.

The map fills in landmarks and points of interest and there is a photo mode. The story has comic book cutscenes and you unlock comic pages as you play through and can recap it all by reading the comic. Overall, The Invincible is a very atmospheric game that offers a unique gaming experience and is a must-play for Sci-Fi fans and those who like more storiy than game.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
