Thunderbolt Collection Review (Xbox Series S)
For our Thunderbolt Collection Review, we just have to destroy all the enemies that will come until we reach the final boss of the stage, make it easier and faster as we try and collect items and power-ups to enhance our health, increase our speed and upgrade or acquire new weapons. The goal is to lead humanity to survival.

- 1000 Gamerscore.
- Two games in one – Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2.
- 8bit and 16bit versions of the games.
- Shmup gameplay.
- Overall menu to adjust settings.
- State save system for saving and loading at will.
- Thunderbolt 2 has 3 difficulties – Easy, normal, and hard.
- Collect power-ups to change how your gun fires.
- Earn smart bombs to clear the screen.
- Nice animated backdrops.
- Tight controls.
- Game filter – smooth, sharp, CRT, and XBR.
- Screen mode – normal, fit, and stretch.
- Can remap the controls.
- Nice little nostalgia trip.
Thunderbolt Collection Review Cons:
- No museum or history piece on the games.
- Little replay value.
- No leaderboards local or online.
- No wallpaper options.

Summary
The Thunderbolt games were a good set of shmups and that’s still true today, but man I wish this little collection just had a bit more to it. The save state is cool but I never used it because it’s a faff I don’t need when shooting aliens! Thunderbolt is good if a somewhat average set of shmups will scratch the itch and serve up a healthy dollop of nostalgia but if you are looking for anything more then you will be disappointed.
