Tormenture Review, In Tormenture you take the role of a child, who motivated by rumors about a cursed 8-bit horror videogame, decides to play it. People say the developers of the game made a deal with the devil to reach eternal life, resulting in serious consequences. To solve the mysteries of the game and avoid getting trapped in it, you will need to find and gather the 4 relics and head north, by exploring a vast map and solving puzzles, some of them “connected to real life”. Be wary, some creatures may break free and lurk in the shadows of your reality.

Tormenture Review Pros:

Beautiful 8 Bit graphics style.
1.82GB Download size.
Steam achievements.
Graphics settings – quality and filter on/off.
Full controller support.
Action adventure gameplay.
Has a retro atmosphere from the music to the graphics, to the TV shows and props.
You play in an 8-bit game and also out in the real world.
The game nails the 80s aesthetic.
A notebook is used as your system for documenting the map, items, clues, etc.
The map fills in as you play.
It’s such a cool game that appeals to gamers of a certain age.
Nothing is really explained to you and it actually benefits the experience.
The game plays on a screen-by-screen basis.
Three hits and it’s game over but it does save your progress such as doors you opened etc.
Puzzles are all over the game, some are simple switch puzzles and some are a lot more in-depth.
Meet colorful characters.
Simple controls.
Collectible Easter eggs.
Explore your room in the real world for help with the game.
Find and use the game manual. (kids before your tutorials in the game we had instructions written on paper and it helped us learn before even starting the game)
So many little cool bits of nostalgia.
Music plays a part in puzzle-solving.
Find and read lore extracts.
The satisfaction comes more from figuring out what you have to do rather than the payoff.

Tormenture Review Cons:

Never sure when the game has been saved.
The controls are awkward at times and this is more because you have to find the manual and remember what the controls are.
It’s a game where you really need to pay attention to absolutely everything and if you don’t then you can be stuck for hours.
Going in and out of the game is not as smooth and easy as you would like and this caused the most frustration for me.
I feel even after hours I still never knew what I was doing and half the time it was blind dumb luck.
Had the game do weird bugs like getting stuck in menus or having it so I couldn’t drop an item.
