  • You can freely move around the screen.
  • It’s a 2D side scroller with the level always going forward.
  • You can remap the controller.
  • Turn mode – manual or automatic.
  • Enemies can come from both sides at any time.
  • Opening tutorial level.
  • Heavy rock soundtrack.
  • Altars act as a respawn point and at them, you can upgrade your weapons, change them out, etc. The load-out is a melee weapon, ranged, auxiliary, and two modules can be installed.
  • Health bar system, you can shoot green pods to get your health back.
  • Aside from your weapons, you can boost through the Breakable parts of the level.
  • The levels have multiple routes within them.
  • Collect materials to use at altars to upgrade your weapons.
  • It’s a solid Shmup game that veterans will enjoy, new players get a lot of help to get into it.
  • Full 3D animated backgrounds that look awesome.
  • Your guns have energy levels and holding down the shoot button will make the gun’s shots smaller and less powerful.
  • Melee lets you take down anyone and destroy enemy projectiles.
  • When you find modules you can choose to equip them there and then.
  • Ai characters can join you and help.
  • The most metal Shmup game.

Valfaris Mecha Therion Review Cons:

  • It is hard at times to make out what is scenery or enemies and what is not.
  • The shooting mechanic takes some getting used to.
  • Boss fights are not as memorable.
  • If you don’t like rock music then this is not the game for you.
  • At times the screen can feel claustrophobic.
