  • Games are split into genres 1P, Co-op, and vs.

  • Flipshot plays like a more in-depth pong/Tennis game where you need to get the ball past the other player and hit the scoring tokens.
  • Flipshot has five characters to play as.
  • Flipshot is very easy to learn and play with just a one-page manual on how to play.

  • Local leaderboards on games allow you the traditional three initial name inputs.
  • It’s a great collection of multiple game genres.
  • Every game plays very well and the controls are tight and responsive.

VISCO Collection Review Cons:

  • Ganryu has the annoying trope of when an enemy gets close, no matter what you cannot have time to turn around and kill them.
  • Each game has a tutorial but it’s just an auto-played scene.
  • AndroDunos has many cheap deaths and you can die by hitting the walls and floor.
  • Cannot rebind controls.
  • No games have their own menus and settings like difficulties etc.
  • You can only reset the game and not the level/race you are currently on.
  • NEO Driftout is really sensitive and you cannot change the camera zoom.

Summary

This collection of seven games, including AndroDunos, Flipshot, BangBead, Captain Tomaday, Ganryu, NEO Driftout new technology, and Goal Goal Goal, offers a diverse range of genres and gameplay styles. The collection is beautifully presented with stunning graphics and great sprite work in every game. Each game is accompanied by its own user manual and features border art, adding to the overall aesthetic.

The games are split into genres such as 1P, Co-op, and vs, and can be played in both online and offline modes. You can save and load your progress at any point, and there’s an option to create your own favorites list or filter games by genre. The controls are simple, with full eight-directional movement, and are tight and responsive in every game.

Each game offers unique gameplay elements. For instance, NEO Driftout’s new technology is an isometric Rally game where you race against the clock with direction pop-ups. Flipshot and its sequel BangBead play like a more in-depth pong/Tennis game where you need to get the ball past the other player and hit the scoring tokens. Captain Tomaday is a Shmup game with a very cartoony and colorful presentation, and Ganryu is a side-scroller beat ’em up game with a lot of verticalities to the levels.

Despite the collection’s strengths, there are a few areas that could be improved. For example, the controls cannot be rebound, and there are no individual game menus or settings like difficulties. Also, in some games like AndroDunos, there are many cheap deaths and you can die by hitting the walls and floor. In Ganryu, when an enemy gets close, it’s almost impossible to turn around and kill them in time.

Overall, this collection offers a great variety of game genres and provides a nostalgic arcade experience with its cabinet art and local leaderboards. It’s a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enjoy classic games with modern conveniences.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
