What I Want To See From The Nintendo Switch Event

We are mere hours away from the Nintendo event where we get the full lowdown on Nintendo Switch. We have had leak after leak from games to possible prices, But for the large part I have avoided them as I still like the idea that nothings worth knowing until its true facts. Here I am going to just shoot off a load of things that I want to see, Some will be plausible, Some realistic but some may be well out of the box! So when reading just bear in mind I know some of these features/items have been leaked but I wanted to do my list and here it is.

Price:

With the state of the market how it is, I would think that Nintendo would want to get near the price of Sony And Microsoft, But with a smaller spec sheet I think it should be near £320 for the top tier package. We know Nintendo love having multiple SKU at launch. Have one at £320 and the other one for £290. I mean to be honest I would love it to be £200 and £250 but something tells me that wont happen! It may well come down to what is in the box as if it has games then it can demand more.

In The Box:

Simple, Bring back the Premium service we had on Wii U premium at launch! For the uninformed, Premium was a service only available to Wii U premium owners and gave cashback on eShop purchases, Giving you the cashback in £5 denominations once you hit the cap.

Games: I would like to see at least one game to be included with either SKU. No one likes buying consoles without at least one game in the box. Scary thing is though, If you think about it though we rarely have games in new consoles.

Screen protector: Probably a dead cert but I want to be thorough!

Strong Game Lineup:

Nintendo need to announce a strong line up with a mixture of first party, Third party with well known franchises and new franchises mixed in. This is to cater for every type of gamer but also send a strong message to the market that everyone is welcome at Nintendo.

Virtual console needs to stay with new titles added to all consoles. We also need new virtual consoles added. The pricing could do with changing especially on the Mario games but Nintendo gonna Nintendo and they know they can charge any price and get results.

Games:

  • New Picross 3D game.
  • Monster Hunter.
  • Mario Kart.
  • Mario.
  • Smash.
  • Splatoon.
  • SNES Remix collection.
  • Pokemon of some sort.

Miscellaneous:

Few quick fire wants:

  • Use the game library app from 3DS to keep track of games played and for how long. Its a cool feature that more and more people like using.
  • Achievements/Stamps/Trophies system. Not really a biggie to me but I use them more to show what I have done instead of for bragging rights. They tried the stamps thing before but it felt flat and didn’t really pick up so maybe a rework of it is needed.
  • Full integration with My Nintendo and Miiverse. Make it so people want to spend time in Miiverse, Devs could hang out and speak with their customers but it needs to be simple and quick.
  • Backward compatibility: More in terms of previous purchases from the eShop are recognized and honored on the Switch. Course this is all dependent on if eShop and VC is on the Switch.
  • Solid online infrastructure, From better friends list (Ditch Friends codes) to automatic background game updates. Online either needs to be free or offer games to keep up with Sony and Microsoft. One idea could be they could offer you full access to the VC libraries.
  • Everything is in the box! By this I mean we have all needed cables, Chargers etc.
  • Integration with 3ds, More because I do not want the 3DS to die!
  • Decent My Nintendo rewards.

Yeah right, No Chance Mate:

  • Ability to connect your 3DS to the Switch and stream your games to the big screen.
  • Densha De Go series to be announced.
  • I can use my Wii U game pad with Switch. (Shhh I like it ok)
  • Games are under 35 quid.
  • VC games get a price overhaul and lowered.
  • Proper Animal Crossing game.
  • No stock issues.

As you can see, Im not asking too much. Well for some things I am but overall its just a decent want to see list. I never feel disappointed with Nintendo just frustrated that they never seem to do the obvious, Course Nintendo are known for crafting their own path and never follow the trend which is their uniqueness, But man they need to do some things the same like prices of games, Sales and how gamers use online to interact and play with friends. For now we will just have to sit tight and wait for this time next week we will know everything and the only thing left to wonder is where are you pre ordering! Over to you now Nintendo……

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
