WarPips Review Pros:

  • Decent graphics.
  • 1.2GB download size.
  • 1000 Gamerscore.
  • Own in-game achievements.
  • Strategy gameplay.
  • The tutorial section is optional.
  • Blood and gore are optional.
  • Use cash to buy/train troops.
  • Pips determine the size of your army.
  • The goal of the game is to get to the right-hand side of the screen and blow up the enemy’s base.
  • A World map is used to select where to go, you need to wipe out all enemies to get a boss fight that then rewards you with a choice of the next location.
  • Earn EXP and level up to get a combat point that you then exchange for either cash or an extra pip.
  • EXP pops up in-game.
  • You lay out the army and then the game auto-plays.
  • Cutesy atmosphere to it all.
  • End of level breakdown on performance.
  • The camera allows you to move around and zoom in and out.
  • Set your loadout of what’s available in a battle.
  • Each unit has a bio and details on them.
  • Fast loading times.
  • Reinforcement. The bar will tell you how many enemy troops are deploying and when they are running out of troops.
  • The dashboard is clear and has a cool little army man figure on it.
  • The EXP bar can be seen at the top of the screen.
  • Troops can be offensive or defensive.
  • The environment is destructible and has hazards.
  • Full stats section.
  • The Big Red Button! Press it when the enemy is close to the base and it will give you a huge cash injection.
  • Every item and build has cool-down meters.
  • Attack and defend commands are charged from kills and using one will drain the other one. Defend sets up a wall of troops whilst attack will have everyone rush forward.
  • Three game modes – conquest, endless and quick battle.
  • Conquest mode has four difficulties – Private, Sergeant, Major, and General.
  • Army customisation – army name, insignia, color, and enemy color.
  • Earn chips to then spend on upgrades and new army options.
  • Save and exit option.
  • The endless mode uses a different method of army activation going with round-based spawns rather than immediate.
  • The quick battle has 3 difficulties – Easy, challenging, and hardcore.
  • The higher difficulty levels show off just how strong the game can be.
  • A lot of fun.
  • Feels like the most violent tug-of-war game ever.

WarPips Review Cons:

  • Small text.
  • Short conquest mode.
  • A lot to take in initially.
  • The army customisation is pretty basic.
  • No online play.
  • Doesn’t use any sort of leaderboard system.
  • Had a mobile game port feel to it.
  • Games can go on for a while.
  • The shortcuts they get you to use are never mentioned or shown on the dashboard.
  • Not a game you keep coming back to.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
