  • World map where you select a destination and get a travel time, you can trigger random events as you travel.
  • You can bury dead bodies!
  • Twin stick shooting controls.
  • The map and locations uncover as you explore.
  • Day/night cycle with weather effects.
  • Pierce cactus to drink from.
  • Loiter is a menu option used to advance time.
  • Everything can be picked up and taken, this means if seen you can steal.
  • Mission markers.
  • Full stealth implementation using crouch, the environment, or using the night to hide you.
  • Knock out enemies to carry and hide them, they will eventually wake up and will take more damage from you.
  • The d-pad is used for fast use of consumables.
  • Weapon wheel for fast weapon/tool selection.

  • Full cover-based shooting.
  • You can sell or scrap items.
  • Cook food at stoves and fires to regain health.
  • The game encourages you to try whatever you want and even quick save and try a different path.

  • Vultures will fly around and then land on dead bodies, you can shoot them for food.

  • You can play stealthy or all guns blazing.
  • Elite enemies will have insignia markers to show how strong they are.

  • Find secrets, routes, and loot.
  • Reinforced doors can be blown up with dynamite.
  • Doors can be destroyed with any weapons.
  • Use the environment to get the upper hand like kicking over oil, chemicals, or shooting oil lamps.
  • Reputation can be earned and lost with your actions and interactions.
  • Loot has rarity levels.
  • Friends for life is a system whereby when/of you save someone they may randomly appear to help you out in combat scenarios.
  • Locations and scenarios allow creativity from stealth to throwing a rope down chimneys to sneak in or using a well for a shortcut.
  • Golden Ace Of Spades card gives you a perk point.
  • Recruit new posse members to join you.
  • Bounty/wanted boards to allow you to take on contracts for bonus rewards.
  • Kill enough of a family to get the rest of them after you or take out a prominent gang leader and the members will hunt you down.
  • Every contract or mission will have a time limit of how many days you have.
  • Gets very addictive.
  • Steal horses for faster travel.
  • Skinning kits allow you to gather resources such as hide and leather from animals.
  • Read books to learn new techniques and lore.
  • Eat or drink to replenish your posse member’s health even if you are full.
  • Full-blown self-contained dungeons and caves.

Weird West Review Cons:

  • Only one control layout.
  • Difficult.
  • Learning shooting skills is a long road.
  • Remember to save.
  • After a loading screen, you have to press X to continue.
  • Creates a lot autosave entries.
  • A lot to take in.
  • Instances of enemies hitting through walls.
  • Locations indoors feel claustrophobic and are hard to deal with in gunfights.
  • Cannot cancel the digging/burying action.
  • You have to do a lot of item management.
  • Hard to make things out like enemies, items, etc.
