Welcome to ParadiZe Review Cons:

  • Takes a while to get going.
  • Cannot remap controls.
  • At times the game just freezes for a few seconds, it happens a lot.
  • Not always the clearest direction.
  • The story is whatever.
  • A lot of man management starts to kick in as you have to set up Zombots then make sure you have fuel for the generator, then have enough crafting on you.
  • Doesn’t explain everything like having a map! Or that you can pick up items and not be able to use them and I’m guessing it’s because of level.
  • Doesn’t offer any camera control.
  • The game can suffer from too much loot/materials.
  • Has an annoying hot and cold mechanic that only kicks in in certain areas.
  • A lot of backtracking is needed on a majority of quests.
  • It’s an action RPG but if you have a more condensed and focused experience.
  • Not always sure when it was saved.

Summary

Welcome to Paradize is an open-world zombie survival game with a unique gimmick – you can have zombies work for you through a hat with mind control. These zombie followers, called Zombots, can be tweaked to behave in different ways, from healing you to fighting for you. You can equip them with gear and weapons and give them brief orders. The game offers a lot of control over Zombots, especially when they are controlled by a pylon.

The game features decent graphics, great voice work, and humor throughout. It has an isometric view and action RPG gameplay. The game offers two ways to play – online and offline. There are twelve preset characters to choose from and four save slots. The game has a day and night cycle with different weather effects and a good lighting model when using the torch. The game also features a simple hack-and-slash combat that runs at a fast pace.

The game has a crafting system that can be accessed via the menu, and materials are abundant. As you earn experience and level up, you can put points into the skill tree. You can also repair parts of the world like bridges to open up new locations. The game features a variety of different Zombot types, and you can move and heal at the same time. Death in the game means you lose a percentage of experience.

You can build and repair structures from houses to storage generators and walls. Enemies can attack and destroy your base, especially if your generator has run out. Pylons can be built, and with these, they control your Zombot, and you can assign them tasks like collecting wood or foraging. The single-player mode allows you to pause the game.

However, the game does have its drawbacks. It takes a while to get going, and at times, the game just freezes for a few seconds. The game doesn’t always provide clear directions, and the story is lackluster. The game also requires a lot of management, as you have to set up Zombots, ensure you have fuel for the generator, and have enough crafting on you. The game doesn’t explain everything, like having a map or why you can pick up items and not be able to use them. The game also doesn’t offer any camera control.

Despite these drawbacks, the game is a whole lot of fun with clear mission briefings and markers showing on the map. The game allows you to play how you want, and you can even put a saddle on a zombie and ride it! The game is an action RPG but offers a more condensed and focused experience. Overall, Welcome to Paradize offers a unique zombie experience and thrives in its unpredictability and over-the-top action! I hope this spawns a zombie racing competition online.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
