Summary

West Hunt is a game that offers a unique blend of strategy and action. With decent graphics and a full 3D world with 360-degree camera control, the game provides an immersive experience. The game has a download size of 894MB and features online leaderboards and a full stats screen.

Players can earn experience and level up to unlock new uniforms, characters, pets, and name tags. The game offers two playable tutorials – one for the sheriff and one for the outlaw. As an Outlaw, players have a list of objectives to complete while acting like a law-abiding citizen. On the other hand, playing as a Sheriff involves finding the Outlaws and shooting them.

The game mechanics involve completing primary tasks to raise the notoriety meter while doing secondary tasks lowers the meter. There’s also a timer in play for the Outlaws where they need to complete tasks before it runs out. Time can be added by doing primary tasks.

West Hunt also offers custom games that let you create or join rooms. You can create rooms with bots, and creating a room requires a passcode. You can also have spectators in your room. The game offers three ways to play – 1v1, 2v2, and 3V3.

However, the game does have its drawbacks. The menu system is a cursor and you use the right stick to move it, which can be slow and tedious. The camera is separate from movement, meaning you can mess up simple tasks easily. The gameplay is very slow and methodical, and it doesn’t flow nicely. Depending on when you play, it can affect how quickly you can get a game. The objectives are quite plain, and as a Sheriff, it always ends up being guesswork. The performance in docked mode is very inconsistent with slowdown happening a fair bit.

Despite these issues, the game can be fun when played with friends as you can psyche each other out. Overall though West Hunt offers a flawed experience with its blend of strategy and action it has glimmers of hope but it also does have areas that could be improved for a smoother gameplay experience.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
