X Rebirth Free Steam Weekend and Update Announced

Egosoft and Deep Silver are happy to announce the Free X Weekend on Steam together with an exciting new UPDATEfor X Rebirth, new Linux support and reduced prices.

Free X Weekend:
Over the weekend from March 13th to March 15th ALL X games, from the very first X: Beyond The Frontier over the beloved X3 series to the very latest X Rebirth: The Teladi Outpost will be available for an intensive weekend of free test playing through the Steam platform.  Decide for yourself if you prefer the somewhat more hardcore X3 games, like X3: Albion Prelude or the all new X Rebirth universe. Try them all with the newest updates and on any Operating System supported by Steam Play.

Update 3.50 for X Rebirth:
March 13th will also be the release date of update 3.50 for X Rebirth bringing among many other improvements:

• New generic missions and new upkeep missions for easier station management
• New ships: The new Onil mining ships available in the Canteran shipyard in DeVries.
• New “Container Magnet” which helps to attract nearby collectables to the player ship.
• Easier navigation through text search field in map.
• New FXAA graphics option.

Among the many improvements in 3.50 are:
• Improved station manager and station owned ship trade behaviour.
• Improved balancing and accuracy of combat calculations when player is not present.
• Improved response of player owned stations to nearby player ships being attacked.
• Completely reworked Russian localisation.
• Improved support for UI-modding

Alpha version of X Rebirth for Linux:
With the release of Update 3.50 we will also enter the public Alpha test of our own native port to the Linux Operating system.  Get the Linux port through Steamplay for free and help testing on this exciting new platform.

Among other news in the X Universe: In addition to the Steam platform, all X3 games ported by Egosoft to MAC OS are now ALSO available on the MAC appstore.
