Review: MOTHERGUNSHIP (PlayStation 4)
Faceoff against overwhelming odds in brutal, non-stop combats where thinking on your feet is the only way to survive.
Pros:
- Really nice crisp graphics.
- 5.31GB Download size.
- Platinum trophy.
- Axis sensitivity sliders.
- First person bullet hell gameplay.
- Fast paced movement like Quake or Unreal Tournament.
- Opening the tutorial level.
- Earn credits from enemies.
- Craft station- The real meat of the game. You can attach any gun parts to each other and make crazy big guns and add-ons. You need credits and for the gun to have enough power and obviously the space to fit these parts but it is all well laid out and explained.
- Energy is the true enemy in this game. This dictates your gun design and regulates it all except for levels with strict requirements.
- Can skip dialogue.
- Excellent voice work.
- The story is one you’ve heard before and its full of cheese but it fits the game really well and is so well done you can’t help but love it.
- Solid gunplay which is good in a gun game.
- Platform sections.
- Many enemy types to keep you on your toes.
- Frequent workshop locations.
- Full inventory management of parts.
- Huge boss fights with clever mechanics shoehorned in that really work and build the tension.
- The campaign is very enjoyable.
- Random level layouts.
- Tons of replayability.
- Uses an almost roguelike experience. For when you die you go back to your ship and do all your level ups and gear upgrades and go again.
- Loot drops of gear.
- Gear has rarity levels.
- A lot of fun to play.
- Anyone can pick it up and no what’s going on.
- Simple control layout.
Cons:
- No FOV slider.
- Multiplayer is coming soon.
- Inventory management is a nightmare.
- Building guns are fun but take a bit of getting used too.
- A lot of levels limit your gun creation skills with limits on what can and can’t be used.
- Not as many bosses as you would think.
- Short campaign, Just a few hours for vets of the genre.
- You lose gun parts when you die which is frustrating.
- Can get very busy on the screen.
- The movement is so fast and instant that people who suffer from motion sickness can have a real hard time playing the game.
