Review: SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption (PlayStation 4)

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption is a boss battler action-RPG. Face eight abhorrent bosses, the first seven each based on one of the deadly sins. Before each epic clash, you must sacrifice a stat and level down to enter combat. Each fight will be tougher than the last as you wage war against sin itself.

Pros:

  • Really cool graphics.
  • 6.80GB Download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • Two camera modes- Free cam or fixed cam.
  • Two controller presets.
  • Tutorial pop-ups.
  • Boss battler gameplay.
  • Dark Souls like in atmosphere and appearance.
  • Tight responsive controls.
  • Quick weapon swapping.
  • Fast loading times.
  • Hub- Tombstones are displayed and you select one to trigger the boss portal, Before doing so you get a brief rundown of the boss and what curse you will receive.
  • When you pick a boss you get cursed. An example is lower health or shield breaks easily or slower stamina regen. Each time you beat a boss you then get another curse and another.
  • Difficult.
  • Some cool boss design.
  • You fight in a set arena.
  • Clear HUD.
  • Uses a stamina system for attacking and blocking.

Cons:

  • No character builds or ability to customize.
  • Difficult.
  • Doesn’t explain all the choice/action consequences.
  • Content light with only a handful of bosses then the final showdown.
  • Little reason to replay the game.
  • Difficult just for the sake of it.
