This F1 2022 The Game Review has us racing in the new cars of the Formula 1 2022 season with the authentic lineup of all 20 drivers and 10 teams, and take control of your race experience with new immersive or broadcast race sequences. Create a team and take them to the front of the grid with new depth in the acclaimed My Team career mode, race head-to-head in split-screen or multiplayer, or change the pace by taking supercars from some of the sport’s biggest names to the track in our all-new Pirelli Hot Laps feature.

  • Accessibility options – subtitles, subtitles language, voice chat, mono mix, mono mix balancing, Colourblind mode, convert incoming voice into text chat, chat text size and multiplayer lobby voice guide.
  • Graphics settings – gamma, motion blur strength, HDR, and peak Nit adjustment.
  • Telemetry settings- UDP mode, UDP port, and UDP format.
  • Full camera setup and a FOV slider.
  • F1 life is a section where you can view trophies, super cars, Theatre of unlocked clips, customisation and virtual showroom.
  • Career can be played solo or two player (Co-op or contracts) online.
  • Two player season can be started solo and your partner can join later.
  • Flashback where you can roll back time.
  • Solo career is played as a driver or my team which is where you do everything. Begin your career in F2 or skip straight to the F1 season. Start from the beginning of the season or join at a particular weekend.

  • Ten teams – Ferrari, Red Bull, AMG, Alfa Romeo, BWT Alpine, Scuderia Alphatauri, HAAS, Mclaren, Aston Martin and Williams Racing.

  • Acclaim – works like EXP in that you earn it from racing and your Acclaim gets you noticed by other teams.
  • Resource points – earned from free practice and practice programmes and is used to upgrade your car.
  • Car R & D is split into four areas – aerodynamics, chassis, power train and durability.
  • Live broadcast presentation.
  • Feels like a step up in overall atmosphere and appearance.
  • Good loading times.
  • Can fully rebind the controls.
  • Tutorial pop ups can be triggered.
  • Solo game modes – Grand Prix, Time Trial and Pirelli Hot laps in sports car.
  • Multiplayer game modes – Social play (beginner-friendly/experienced drivers/browse/create custom), Weekly event, splits reen, ranked play, leagues and previous weeks results.
  • Brand shop to spend currency on branded gear for your avatar.

  • Communicating with online servers message keeps popping up and you can’t do anything when it shows.
  • Not every driver number is available.
  • In-app purchases for cosmetics and the podium pass rewards.
  • Feels at times you getting unfairly punished in collisions.
  • Small in-game text.
  • A lot of jargon.
  • Possible to press a button or direction by accident and just fill the screen with menus and prompts.
  • The media sections still feel like filler.
  • Hard to justify a reason to upgrade from last year.
  • The crowds still look weird in places.
