- Each character has unique abilities, and stars for health, construction speed, and armor.
- The pause screen brings up a huge detailed list of your game stats, your character stats, and any objectives and optional objectives.
- A full 3D game world with the camera following you.
- Combat plays like Vampire Survivors and the like where you can move around but not control attacks and attack direction.
- Earn exp from kills and level up, when you level up you choose one of four random upgrades or abilities.
- Find mines by standing in the circle to discover them and then stay in the circle to get resources from it.
- Materials and resources can be earned, rewarded, and found in the world.
- Use materials and resources to build structures that can shoot, deflect, heal, and many other things.
- Many enemy types.
- The orbs that represent exp look really cool.
- EXP bar shows at the bottom of the screen.
- Feels like a real advancement in the genre.
- Impressive amount of enemies on screen.
- A mini map will show objectives and points of interest.
- You can Reroll the level-up choices.
- All upgrade choices have rarity levels which dictate how good they are and if they add any buffs or abilities to them.
- Trigger and fight champions which are huge boss-like encounters.
- Obols and Adamant are earned from objectives and achievements and are seperate from the gameplay, you spend these on permanent upgrades (favors) for things like health, structure damage, etc.
- Very simple controls.
- Do challenges and objectives to open up new areas and characters.
- Cool power-ups that look fantastic.
- Great atmosphere.
- It’s very much a pick-up-and-get-addicted type game.
- All the locations look great.
- Enemies can randomly drop health potions.
- Build structures that can drop health or heal you.
- Every run is 20 minutes and counts down.
- I like how every structure, chest, mine, or whatever will have a clear circle to stand in to trigger it, it’s always big enough so you can move around.
Achilles Survivor Preview Cons:
- No Steam achievements.
- Runs just end and you go back to the menu.
- It’s hard to see the sigils filling in on the favors menu.
- Slowdown happens a lot especially when you have many structures and enemies.
- It takes a while each run for the enemies and the action to build.
- They have used a lot of the mechanics and hid choices from the survivor game including enemy attacks and types.
- There are no tutorials.
- Had bosses and certain enemy types get stuck in the scenery.
