Arcadegeddon Preview (PlayStation 5)
Our Arcadegeddon Preview introduces us to Gilly, the owner of a local arcade, who is trying to save his business from a faceless mega-corporation. To do so he takes all the top arcade games and connects them all to make a super game, unfortunately, the mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co., hacks the game and injects a virus. You and your friends need to save the game and the last hometown arcade.
Arcadegeddon Preview:
- Nice bright cartoon graphics.
- 4.51GB download size.
- Controller settings – Invert axis and sensitivity sliders, four controllers presets.
- Streamer mode to skip licensed music.
- Character customisation – accessories, hair, head, and body.
- Optional tutorial.
- Crossplay with Epic Games Store version.
- Uses its own language in both written and spoken. (don’t worry it has English)
- Rooms and areas randomize every run.
- Gang leaders give unique rewards and quests.
- Runs can go on forever.
- Small gameplay loop.
- Excellent soundtrack.
- Revive option.
- Very fast-paced.
- Break crates for ammo and cash.
- Loot rarity for weapons and hacks.
- Hacks are buffs like more health or more damage with certain guns, only good for that run.
- Chests are color-coded for the type of loot you may get from it.
- Satisfying gunplay.
- Nailed the excitement of opening chests.
- Stats and MVP awards between areas in mp.
- Powers are earned and equipped onto two slots, they regen over time and vary in what they do from damage to healing. Level up and U lock them, you can change them at waypoint areas.
- Waypoint areas are what I call the small rooms that appear generally halfway through a level, here you can buy new guns, refill ammo and health, buy a difficulty raise and swap out any powers you have unlocked.
- Cheap price point.
- The main hub can house other players.
Arcadegeddon Preview Cons:
- Long matchmaking times.
- The time between areas in multiplayer is long.
- The text is really small and hard to read.
- You have to start at the low level first every run and it takes a long time to build it up.
- In multiplayer you cannot ping items or locations.
- No trophies yet.
- In multiplayer, the loot is first come first served.
- No way to opt-in or opt-out of crossplay.
- Levels and locations repeat way too often.
- At the moment you are grinding for nothing more than cosmetics and new powers but even then that takes a while.
- Runs are very long.
