Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK Review Pros
- Amazing graphics of all eras.
- 2.15GB download size, and this is just for the DLC, with the base game it’s around 15GB.
- The DLC has its own seperate entry on the main menu.
- The Pac-Man and Beyond DLC has its own timeline section, like the main game timelines, and is complete with new videos, games, promo art, and box scans.
- The game library is the shortcut to just the games and can be filtered by year or console, and includes the old and new additions.
- Gameplay is a mix as you have sports titles, shooters, platformers, etc, but the main attraction is the original Pac-Man game on Atari 2600.
- An excellent addition to the base game.
- I like how they implemented it, as it looks and feels like it was there the whole time.
- You get to see how games like Pac-Man came to be and just how much of an impact he had, but also the ways the devs utilised the console to squeeze more out of the games.
- You can launch games from the timeline.
- An excellent mix of games and mini-documentaries laced with beautiful art and promo shots.
- The DLC timeline goes from 1955 to 1986.
- A timeline completion percentage bar is back, so you know how much you have seen and explored.
- All videos have a subtitles toggle option. You can fast-forward and pause the video.
- You can reset games from the pause menu.
- All games can be quit out of and return you back to the main menu.
- High-resolution scans of the original game manuals.
- Original images and clippings from newspapers to posters and news spots.
- The timelines are easy to navigate and use.
- A must for all Namco and retro gaming fans.
- High-quality video and voice in the videos.
- A lot of videos starring Nolan Bushnell, which is always a winner in my book, the stories he has are always fascinating.
- Every game has a fast save/load feature.
- Each game has a screen mode, filter, and border settings.
- I found it interesting in what games made Namco in the first place, and how it’s not who or what you think it is.
- Stick settings can be adjusted – Invert the axis and sensitivity sliders and set them as a relative or absolute type.
- Has around 40 minutes of new video content.
- It’s a very interesting look at not only the game created but also the time for games in general.

Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK Review Cons
- No new trophies.
- Playing some of the older games is not as fun due to how sensitive the sticks are. Yeah, you can have some tweaks for them, but it just feels off and frustrating.
- The game library in the DLC brings up all the games with no filters or anything to show, just the DLC games.
- Doesn’t offer any accessibility options.
- No cheats or adjustments are built into any of the games.
- Doesn’t have any online leaderboards.
- The way it’s laid out makes it seem like it has more images than anything else, and it initially looks underwhelming.

The DLC adds its own timeline section, complete with new videos, promo art, box scans, and a library shortcut to games filtered by year or console. Sports titles, shooters, and platformers mix with the original Pac-Man on Atari 2600, all playable directly from the timeline. Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK – Where It Falls Short: Key Negatives:
Despite its strengths, the DLC introduces frustrations. No new trophies are included, and older games suffer from overly sensitive stick controls that feel off, even with tweaks. The game library lumps all titles together without filters to highlight DLC-specific content. Accessibility options are absent, cheats and adjustments are missing, and online leaderboards are not supported. The layout leans heavily on images, which can initially feel underwhelming.
Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK – Immersive Story and Narrative Elements:
The timeline spans 1955 to 1986, weaving together games, mini-documentaries, and stories from industry legends like Nolan Bushnell. It’s not just a collection but a journey through Namco’s arcade legacy, showing how iconic titles like Pac-Man came to be and the creative ways developers pushed hardware limits. The narrative invites players to relive, rediscover, and reimagine the roots of gaming’s golden age.
Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK – Visual and Performance Aspects:
Graphics shine across eras, with high-quality video and voice work enhancing immersion. Subtitles, fast-forward, and pause options make video content accessible, while screen modes, filters, and border settings allow customisation. High-resolution scans of manuals and promotional art add authenticity. Performance is smooth, with quick resets and seamless returns to the main menu, though the lack of accessibility features is notable.
Atari 50: THE NAMCO LEGENDARY PACK – Overall Verdict: Is It Worth Playing?:
This expansion feels like it was part of the base game all along, seamlessly integrated and rich with content.
