Beyond A Steel Sky Review Pros:

  • Nice graphics.
  • 20.06GB download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • Works on Playstation 5.
  • Action-adventure gameplay.
  • Full 3D world.
  • Plays in the third person perspective.
  • Comic book-style cutscenes.
  • Excellent voice work.
  • Interaction points are slimmer when you are close enough and bring up your options.
  • Feels a lot like it combines a 3D adventure game with a point and clicks.
  • Beautiful locations.
  • Tutorial tips as you play.
  • Multiple choice interactions with branching options.
  • Invert axis and sensitivity sliders.
  • Optional Developer commentary and subtitles.
  • Save when you want.
  • The game has a hints system to help you progress.
  • Puzzle game in its truest form but what happens is it feels like a 3D point and click style puzzle with a lot of combining items or getting an item to do this that then does that.
  • Your character also narrates the story.
  • You can examine everything and everyone.
  • It’s a really good story.
  • A colorful group of characters.
  • Minos hacker allows you to hack into terminals etc and whilst hacking you can swap components around to make it do different things like grant infinite items or not ask for id.
  • Really good cutscenes.
  • Sci-fi as shit.
  • The city is magnificent.
  • Animated Ai terminals for help.

Beyond A Steel Sky Review Cons:

  • Starts with a long cutscene, no intro no build-up.
  • The hint system works in real-time as it takes X amount of time for the next hint to be revealed.
  • Interaction is a pain as you have to be so precise for the prompt to show up.
  • When interacting with something if it moves then it breaks the interactions and you have to do it again.
  • Parts of the story and long-winded.
  • If you interact with some objects in a certain part then you have to wait for your character to walk around to the proper place.
  • I get why they do it but the timed hints system is not ideal when you are stuck.
  • It’s a game that has you constantly baffled.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
