BroForce Review Pros:

  • Pixel art graphics.
  • Gameplay is a shooter/platformer.
  • Constant checkpoints with a central spawn where you can restart from a mission failed. Checkpoints are represented by the American flag.
  • The roster of playable characters is famous action film celebrities in parody form. For example Brobocop and Indiana Brones.
  • Unlock new characters by saving them from their captors. After 12 saves you unlock a new hero.
  • Nine PlayStation trophies.
  • Destructible environment. Everything but ladders and spawn points can be destroyed.
  • Three attack buttons. You have your main weapon, A secondary more powerful attack that requires ammo and of course a melee or throw attack.
  • Simple controls.
  • Four game modes: Campaign, Arcade, Ironbro, and local VS.
  • Levels can be replayed.
  • The campaign has a world map where you can fly around in your chopper. You unlock levels as you play and can choose which level to do next.
  • Arcade is basically a campaign without the map and narrative playing.
  • Online and local play for up to 4 players.
  • The heroes you save are random.
  • Two difficulty options for the campaign. Normal and Hard.
  • File download size: 1.38GB.
  • Lush environments from the jungle to towns and castles.
  • Drop in and out co-op play.
  • Each character plays differently some will have just explosives or shotguns whereas the next might have a gun with kickback.
  • Boss fights.
  • End of a level breakdown showing enemies killed/obliterated and time is taken.
  • A handful of save slots.
  • Fast loading times.

BroForce Review Cons:

  • One-shot deaths.
  • Possible to have a bad run purely on the random nature of the heroes saved.
  • Can destroy the level to the point where completion is impossible.
  • No real tutorial and as such a lot doesn’t get explained.
  • Bad slowdown and stuttering.
  • In the arcade, mode lives don’t carry on.
  • Cannot change options in the game.
  • No Platinum trophy.
  • No use for the DS4 functions like the touchpad and speaker.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
