Capcom Dominates Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025
Capcom took the stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 to deliver a rapid-fire series of major announcements, including new trailers for two highly anticipated titles and a massive collaboration between two beloved franchises. The showcase gave gamers a lot to look forward to in the coming months, covering everything from survival horror to tactical swordplay and epic monster-slaying.
New Look at Resident Evil and Onimusha
Horror fans were treated to an extended look at Resident Evil Requiem, which provided a glimpse into the dark past of its protagonist, Grace Ashcroft. The footage showed the FBI analyst revisiting Raccoon City 30 years after the outbreak to face her tragic memories. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 27, 2026, just ahead of the Resident Evil franchise’s 30th anniversary in March.

This dark fantasy title is also slated for a 2026 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy Unite
One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the announcement of a mutual collaboration between Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV Online. Producers Ryozo Tsujimoto and Naoki Yoshida shared the stage to reveal that the collaboration will bring familiar Final Fantasy elements, such as Chocobos, to the world of Monster Hunter. Players can also expect to encounter the robotic superboss Omega Planetes in a new narrative quest, set to arrive in late September alongside Monster Hunter Wilds’ free Title Update 3.
